NUMed Interview

Yo! How are you doing recently? Hope you doing fine. I'm back to update you what has happened to my life recently.

I have applied to Newcastle Malaysia a week ago and I got an interview invitation three days after I have sent the application form. My interview appointment is set on 17/3 (Today). I went from KL all the way down to Johor. It took me 4 hours to reach my destination. Newcastle is one of the universities located in the Edu City in Johor. Inside the Edu City, there are many more universities nearby such as University of Reading, University of Southampton and MMU. It's a beautiful place. You can see trees everywhere. When you sit in the cafeteria, you can feel the tranquil environment. From what I have observed, there are not many students cause I rarely see people walking around the campus. It's a good place for studying as it provides a quiet atmosphere. There are various facilities such as demonstration theatre, seminar rooms, student recreation room, IT rooms, anatomy rooms, library and etc.

Back to the point, interview! There were two interviewers conducting my interview. It's a two to one interview. It was a more relax one as compared to the interviews I have been through before. The interviewers are friendly as what others have said. My interview questions are as follow:
1. Why NUMed?
2. Why medicine? (As usual haha)
3. How's the Malaysia healthcare system? Pros and cons.
4. What will you do after MBBS?
5. What're your hobbies and what you usually do when you are free?
6. The guidelines to become a doctor (houseman-medical officer).
7. If you have a huge amount of money for charity, will you help the kids with cancer or old folks?
8. If you are assigned for housemanship, will you choose to go to rural area or stay in the city?
9. Have you been through any community works or shadowed a doctor?
10. Critical thinking question: if you have emergency both in hospital and family, how do you do?
11. Will you choose to be a top scorer of just passed?
12. A level system is different from university, how would you adapt?
13. Which specialist do you plan to go? Why?
14. Since I mentioned about O&G: if you are the patient, will you choose a male doctor or female doctor? Are there more male or female O&G doctor in our country?
15. If you are given a chance to change our healthcare system, what will you do?

I think this is basically what the questions about. Not in sequence though. No worries, just take a deep breath before stepping into the room. Though I was feeling a bit anxious at first but after that I feel quite relax after more and more questions kept spamming to me. If you are going to interview soon, I'm here to wish you the best of luck! :) God bless you!

  1. Hello Eunice, and thank you for this post! It gave me a rough idea of what I can prepare to expect during the interview so I was a little less nervous. >~< Are you currently studying at NUMed now?
